AHERA Plan

Silo Patrons, Students, and Employees,

Silo Public Schools, in accordance with federal law, has been inspected for the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACM).  Asbestos containing materials are divided into two types: friable and non-friable.  Friable materials are those that can be crumbled by hand pressure, and therefore have a potential to release airborne fibers if the material is damaged or disturbed.  Non-friable materials are hard, and therefore are incapable of releasing fibers, unless the materials are disturbed in a way so as to make them friable.

Silo Public Schools is current in its 3-Year AHERA Re-inspection Schedule with the last full inspection having taken place on December 9, 2010.  The complete inspection report and asbestos management plan is available for review during normal business hours in the Administrative Office.  In further compliance, Silo Public Schools conducts 6-month walk-through surveillances of asbestos-affected areas with our school buildings.  The last such review was completed on December 1, 2012.
