Our Elementary Education P.E. Department offers an opportunity for students to participate in many types of physical activities that meet the needs of all students. Our levels of physical activity are mainly moderate to vigorous including cooperative games and competitive sports. All students regardless of physical abilities participate. The PASS objectives are used to set our guidelines and goals. We emphasize the knowledge and skills appropriate for a lifetime of physical activities by teaching lifetime sports and such activities as jump roping, dance, and exercise. We stress the importance of maintaining physical activity at home by doing such activities as playing chase with pets or friends, riding bicycles, doing aerobic dances, playing volleyball, or doing any other physical activities that parents approve of. Self-management and movement skills are taught through such activities as individual gymnastics, couple tumbling activities, group tumbling activities, and games and sports. . Respect is taught through fair play and responsible participation, making physical education classes an enjoyable experience for students. We also have health lessons and newsletters which are sent home to parents. The newsletters contain healthy snack recipes, exercises, and informtion about health and healthy lifestyles.
